PM Modi, US President Trump agree to deploy full strength of India-US partnership to fight Covid-19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to the US President Donald Trump about the prevailing crisis in both the countries due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has so far infected over a million people across nations and killed over 60,000 globally.

The two leaders had an extensive discussion about the measures to take to fight this deadly pandemic. PM Modi said that both the countries have agreed in displaying their partnership to fullest in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Soon after talking to him, PM Modi on his Twitter account wrote, “Had an extensive telephone conversation with President @realDonaldTrump. We had a good discussion, and agreed to deploy the full strength of the India-US partnership to fight COVID-19″.

In India, the coronavirus outbreak has seen surge in cases in past few days and has infected around 3,000 people, with 68 deaths so far recorded in the country. The Indian government on March 25 imposed a nation-wide lockdown for 21 days to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the coronavirus has created more havoc than India. In one of the deadliest day for the country, the US on Saturday reported nearly 1,500 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker.

According to the tracker, 1,480 deaths counted between 8:30 pm (0030 GMT) on Thursday and at the same time on Friday, taking the total death toll to 7,406. The deadly virus has affected more than 2,00,000 people in the country so far, the highest for any country in the world.
