One such excursion is the  in the  district, which transports the travellers from the bustle of the city to a serene forest of palm trees in just under 2 hours.
Located 55 kilometers from Agra city center and 47 kms from Etah district headquarters, the Patna Bird Santuary is about 12 kilometers from the Jalesar town, famous for its bronze and brass bell casting industry.
The winter abode of scores of indigenous and migratory birds from Nature Lovers AtPatna Bird Sanctuaryacross Europe, the Patna Bird Sanctuary boasts of a shallow wetland spread in the area of about 1 sq. km., situated on the edge of a dense thicket of palm trees.
Considered to be one of the smallest bird sanctuaries in India due to a small lake of just over 100 hectares, the Patna Bird Sanctuary is nevertheless one of the most interesting excursions from Agra. The dense thicket of palm trees offers a pleasant environment to the vistors and neatly carved pathways lead them to the various birdwatching points in the sanctuary.
At the end of the pathways is a small guest house and information center, with a watch tower that overlooks the lake. The sanctuary is adequately staffed with two forest guards / guides who can enlighten you on the various species of birds like Mallards, Tufted ducks, Spotbill Ducks, Ibis, Darters, Purple Herons, Storks, Greylegged Goose, Pintail, Red-crested Pochards, Flamingos, and Spoonbills that nest in the sanctuary during winters.Patna Bird Sanctuary

How to reach from Agra: Patna Bird Sanctuary is located 55 kilometers away from Agra on the Agra-Jalesar road. It is about 12 kilometers further from Jalesar and thicket of palm trees is visible from the road as you close in.

How to reach from Etah:  Patna Bird Sanctuary is located on the Awagarh-Jalesar road and is about 47 km from the district headquarters. Travellers from Etah need to travel to Awagarh and then turn towards Jalesar.
